I am a Dutch but I never read this book. We did spoke about it at school during history class. But the book is been on my list now for long time.

I finished reading it yesterday. I thought it was good but not amazing–I have a feeling it’s a little like Uncle Tom’s Cabin, more important for its historical impact than for its literary quality. What would you say are the best or most important Dutch books? What does everyone read in school? It’s going to be a long time until I get to the Netherlands on my list but I always like recommendations! 🙂

Dairy of Anne Frank is for sure most important book that every kid read read.
A classic one is The Dark room of Damocles by Willem Frederik Hermans is really good.
War without friends by Evert Hartman.
The Golden Egg by Tim Krabbé.
My personal favorite, not a must are books by Thea Beckman.
