East Timor

The Crossing is first because it’s the only one I finished. It was only ok. I wrote one blog post for all three of these books, so all the links go to the same place. It’s too bad that there isn’t some better writing from East Timor because it’s got a pretty brutal recent history and a story that should be told, and told well.

  1. The Crossing: A Story of East Timor, Luís Cardoso, 1997
  2. Beloved Land: Stories, Struggles, and Secrets from Timor-Leste, Gordon Peake, 2013
  3. Funu: The Unfinished Saga of East Timor, Jose Ramos-Horta, 1987
  • Andanças de um Timorense, Ponte Pedrinha, 1998 (couldn’t find in English)
  • Timor Lives! Speeches of Freedom and Independence, Xanana Gusmão, 2005 (couldn’t face another non-fiction work, especially a collection of speeches)
